Gorilla Glue #4 Strain THCa Flower — Light Assist
GG4 was an accident.
The breeders at GG Strains did not plan Gorilla Glue #4. A Chem’s Sister plant hermaphrodited and pollinated a Sour Dubb female. The seeds from that unintended crossing were planted, a Chocolate Diesel male contributed pollen somewhere in the process, and what grew out of the resulting genetics produced flower so covered in resin that the trimming scissors stopped working mid-job. The blades glued together. The plant was named after that experience and became one of the most widely grown and replicated genetics in the American cannabis market within three years of its accidental creation.
The accident happened to produce something genuinely worth the attention it received. The Chem’s Sister, Sour Dubb, and Chocolate Diesel genetics combined into a strain with a specific diesel-and-chocolate terpene profile that reads as more complex than any of the parents suggest independently, a potency ceiling built from the combination of three high-THC-producing genetic contributions, and a resin architecture so extreme that the visual alone is immediately recognizable — milky white trichome coverage dense enough to almost hide the bud structure underneath.
Brady J found it fun to touch because it is fresh. That tactile observation is specifically meaningful for GG4 — the resin density produces a stickiness that most consumers do not encounter in lighter-trichome genetics, and fresh, properly-cured GG4 feels different in the hand from flower that has been sitting for too long. The stickiness Brady noticed is active terpene and resin integrity announcing itself before the jar is even put down.
The light assist cultivation is the appropriate environment for GG4’s Chemdog-lineage genetics for the same reason it works for other Chemdog descendants in the program. The diesel-and-chemical fuel character in GG4 — the caryophyllene and myrcene combination from the Chem’s Sister genetics — responds to UV exposure in ways that flat artificial spectrum suppresses. The greenhouse environment gives the Chemdog lineage the photon variation that amplifies the fuel character at concentrations indoor-only grows at this price point do not consistently reach. Dan N rolled it easily and smoked it even better. Jason O found it great product from wonderful staff. The light assist making the genetics louder is the cultivation side of that outcome.
The grower’s note on this batch: GG4’s extreme resin production creates a specific challenge during the dry — the dense trichome coating on every bud surface slows moisture evaporation from the bud interior relative to the exterior. Standard drying protocols designed for lower-resin genetics produce a bud that feels dry on the outside while retaining moisture in the core, which leads to harsh smoke and potential quality issues in the jar. This grower runs GG4 at longer dry times with lower airflow than the standard protocol, specifically to allow the moisture gradient from the bud interior to the exterior to equilibrate before the cure begins. The smooth smoke that Brady, Dan N, and the other reviewers all independently noted is that protocol working as intended.

Chem’s Sister x Sour Dubb x Chocolate Diesel | GG Strains | Indica-Dominant Hybrid
Chem’s Sister, a Chemdog phenotype, contributes the sharp diesel-chemical fuel character, the extreme resin production, and the potency ceiling. Sour Dubb, a Sour Diesel x OG Kush cross, adds the sour fuel depth, the additional resin architecture, and the heavy indica body ease. Chocolate Diesel, a Chocolate Thai x Sour Diesel cross, contributes the subtle sweet chocolate undertone that sits beneath the dominant fuel character and adds complexity without sweetening the profile.

Im going to be straight up, this purple haze is some of the best sativa flower I’ ve smoked in years… the taste and smell are beautiful and will bring back memories for any true old school smoker. As another person commented, modern weed almost made me quit smoking. I have been smoking for a long time and I remember when weed was actually good. Before all this new age nonsense. I can’t recommend it enough! Please Sherlock’s never stop what you’re doing!! Keep the old school genetics alive!!! God bless you all 💜
