Before this batch arrived, Sherlocks had never carried THCa Flower from this farm. Fullmoon Genetics is the breeder for this batch. Black Amber was one of the first strains they sent. It didn’t take long to understand why the farm believed in it. The flower immediately stood out for its appearance. Deep burgundy and dark green tones run throughout the buds. Thick amber-colored trichomes catch the light from almost every angle. Even before opening the jar, Black Amber looks different from most flower on the shelf. After opening it, the decision became even easier.

GMO And OZ Kush Were Never Meant To Be Subtle

Black Amber starts with two genetics that already have strong personalities. GMO built its reputation on pungent garlic, fuel, and earth. It’s one of those strains that fills a room the second the jar opens. OZ Kush BX2 comes from the OG Kush family tree and brings a sweeter, warmer side that keeps Black Amber from becoming pure funk.

What makes the cross interesting is that neither parent disappears. The GMO side is impossible to miss. The gas, earth, and savory funk show up immediately. Then the OZ Kush starts adding sweetness, dried fruit, and a softer finish that keeps the strain from feeling harsh or overwhelming. A lot of crosses end up feeling like one parent won the argument. Black Amber feels like both parents stayed in the room.

When this batch arrived, a few things stood out immediately:

One thing that stands out about Black Amber THCa strain is how dark the flower is. Deep burgundy runs through the buds beneath a thick layer of amber-colored trichomes. Some flower looks frosty. Black Amber almost looks glazed. Everything about the strain feels dense, rich, and slow-moving. Nothing feels bright or flashy. Even the smell leans dark. If Alien Tsunami feels curious and exploratory, Black Amber feels grounded before you even light it.

What The Grower Couldn’t Stop Talking About:

During this run, the grower noticed something unusual about Black Amber’s resin production. Under magnification, the trichomes seemed to develop differently from many of the other strains in the room. Instead of appearing upright and uniform, the resin looked almost like tiny amber droplets pulling downward from the flower. Whether that’s unique to Black Amber or simply this particular phenotype, it was one of the first things the grower mentioned when discussing the harvest.

The second observation came below the surface. When harvest time arrived, Black Amber had developed one of the strongest root systems in the entire living soil bed. The mycelial growth around the roots was noticeably denser than that of neighboring plants, something the grower rarely sees in the same run.

Black Amber Feels Like An End-Of-Day Strain

Some strains help you settle in. Black Amber helps you stay there. The garlic and gas show up immediately. That’s the easy part. Spend more time with it and the sweeter side starts to appear. Break apart a nug and the profile changes again. By the end of the session, the notes you’re noticing may be completely different from the ones that grabbed your attention at the start.
